The North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium meeting

The North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium consists of a number of both non-governmental and governmental organizations and individuals in the United States and Canada who work to study and conserve the critically endangered North Atlantic Right Whales, of which there are approximately 500 individuals remaining. The website (www.narwc.org) currently maintained by the New England Aquarium in Boston, Massachusetts, was created to provide education to the public on right whale research endeavors and conservation strategies. Some of the highlights that the Consortium offers include access to a right whale identification catalogue, blog archives, and up-to-the-minute news on special whale issues.

One of the most invaluable resources to the management and conservation of the species is the Annual Meeting of the North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium. This is the only annual event during which all stakeholders have the opportunity to gather and exchange ideas and information. The next annual meeting of the North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium will be held at the New Bedford Whaling Museum in Massachusetts on November 5-6, 2014. Two days of research, management, conservation, and education presentations (both oral and poster) are planned.”
